Arsenal offered Bayern star £34m after claiming he was interested in moving

Arsenal have been given the opportunity to sign a Bayern Munich player for £34 million this summer, while sporting director Edu Gaspar and the club are still considering other potential signings ahead of the deadline.

Arsenal starts the new Premier League season against Wolves

Mikel Arteta is facing some tough times in the first games of the new Premier League season: by the end of September he will be facing a North London derby, an away game against Champions League team Aston Villa and an exciting duel against Man City.

The North Londoners have been looking for new strikers.

The Gunners narrowly missed out on their first Premier League title in 20 years last season, despite putting Pep Guardiola’s eventual champions under pressure until the final day of the season. Indeed, Arsenal have not been able to fully break City’s dominance in the domestic league, but Arteta will be looking to make it three attempts and give his side their only league title in decades.

Wolves welcome Arsenal to the Emirates Stadium as Arteta prepares for the first kick-off of the new season at 3pm, with the transfer window remaining open and anything can happen before it closes its doors on August 30.

The north Londoners are rumoured to be looking to sign another fresh face ahead of a long and grueling season, with Arsenal believed to be able to make a last-minute signing of Joan Garcia from Espanyol after completing a lengthy transfer of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.

Edu has been trying to close a deal with Merino for weeks. The Spaniard is considered a player who could complement Declan Rice and Jorginho in the central position.

Arsenal have also been frequently mentioned as a potential new option for the attack and Bayern’s Kingsley Coman is one of the many names mentioned in the media over the past two weeks.

Arsenal offers chance to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich

The Frenchman, who scored five goals and provided three assists in 27 appearances in all competitions last season, has also struggled with a number of injury problems, with both knee and adductor problems keeping him out of action for long periods.

Coman’s injury history is questionable and may have put Arteta off. According to GiveMeSport journalist Dean Jones, Arsenal have been given the chance to sign Coman from Bayern Munich this summer, but it seems unlikely that Edu and co. will go down that route.

Other reports last week claimed that Coman was actually very keen on joining Arsenal, with the maximum transfer fee being around £34 million. Despite these factors and the obvious quality if available, the 28-year-old does not currently appear to be close to a move to north London.
