Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins cancels China trip due to family emergency – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Andrew Wiggins has postponed his planned offseason trip to China due to a family emergency.

Wiggins’ manager and close friend Richard Clarke used the veteran Warriors striker’s account on Chinese app Weibo on Thursday to share a video explaining the unfortunate situation.

“Andrew is unable to come to China for the next few days due to a family emergency,” Clarke wrote. “These days have been really hard and exhausting for Andrew and the family. This trip has really meant a lot to us.”

Clarke rightly did not elaborate on the situation.

Wiggins has unfortunately had to deal with numerous family issues over the past few years – especially in the midst of Golden State’s season. And although the Warriors are missing the two-way forward when he’s away, Wiggins is always there for them.

Clarke further explained how much Wiggins’ family had been looking forward to the trip and apologized for the unforeseen circumstances.

“His family has been looking forward to going there for a few months, seeing his fans, seeing the culture, seeing his team, trying the food – just having another great experience with you guys,” Clarke said. “Unexpected things happen – unforeseen circumstances that are outside of our control that will postpone that trip for now.”

Hopefully Wiggins and his family are OK. The Warriors and the basketball world stand behind them.

And on a more positive note, it appears that Wiggins and his family are prioritizing a future trip to China.

“When the time is right, we will definitely come back to China,” Clarke said. “I know he is looking forward to seeing you all again soon. We appreciate the love and support you have given him. In due course, he will come back and we will make it right. Thank you very much.”

Surely, Wiggins’ Chinese fans will welcome the 2022 NBA All-Star and Champion with open arms at the right time.
