Rumor has it that the Chiefs’ perfect WR upgrade is available

The Kansas City Chiefs are the team everyone wants to stop. You can’t blame people around the league. The Chiefs are looking to win their third straight Super Bowl title and everyone is putting pressure on them every week.

Wide receiver Hollywood Brown, one of the biggest signings this season, is expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering a sternoclavicular joint injury in the first preseason game.

That makes things more complicated in the wide receiver room, but maybe they got lucky. There are rumors circulating that Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson could transfer.

Speaking to reporters this week, head coach Dan Quinn said the Commanders are in the midst of their search for a WR2. He named several players under consideration, including Dotson, but he pointed to Olamide Zaccheaus as someone who had a good training camp.

To add fuel to the fire, Dotson added in an article by Sam Fortier in the Washington Post that he was not surprised by his coach’s comments.

“DQ didn’t draft me. Every year… you have to prove yourself in your profession. You have to prove what you’re worth and what you’re capable of. That’s what I’m trying to do.”

With the regular season starting in less than a month, that doesn’t bode well for Dotson. The Penn State alum is playing under a new coaching staff and could quickly find himself in trouble.

The Commanders are obviously happy with their wide receiver space, which means Dotson could be available. The 24-year-old is a smooth route runner with strong hands and a good catch radius.

In his first two seasons with the Commanders, Dotson recorded 84 pass catches (144 attempts) for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Adding a young playmaker like him to the Chiefs’ receiver lineup would be a huge win. Not having Brown to start the season isn’t ideal, and now it appears Kadarius Toney’s time in Kansas City is coming to an end.

Rashee Rice has also been involved in a lot of drama this offseason, so adding another receiver would be worthwhile. That’s something we’ll want to keep a close eye on leading up to the regular season.
